Let me start off by saying that this is not a paid promo or Instagram ad or anything like that.  As a wedding planner, and premier blogger (that is a joke), I am supposed to be up-to-date with the current trends and businesses that can provide my clients and New Orleans locals/ visitors with all of the essentials.  For most brides, a spray tan is essential so when I had the chance to try Uptown Charm’s spray tan process, I was over-joyed.

I am naturally an olive-toned person.  When I am out in the sun and not cooped up in my house for a year, I tend to tan almost immediately.  So when I found that my skin was whiter than my teeth, which also reminded me that I need to see the Dentist, I thought it was the perfect time to see what a spray tan is all about.  Having never done a spray tan before, I was a bit skeptical, but I am here to tell you that I will be a spray tanner for life from here on out!

The process:

My appointment was on a Friday at Noon so I showered on Thursday at Noon – 24-hours before your spray tan is the last time you can shower and trust me, that’s the hardest part!  I went to the salon at 11:45am wearing black sweatpants and an oversized shirt – sexy I know, but I was told to wear dark, loose-fitting clothes so whatever.  After a very quick check in, my artist, Leah, assessed my skin tone, talked through the natural look of my skin and she mixed my color for me.  A quick change and Leah came back for the spray.  It took about 5 minutes, if that.  Initially I was super worried about her seeing me in just my bandeau bra and a pair of boy short underwear, but no body-shaming there.  She was great and made me feel so comfortable.  As a matter of fact, next time I will not worry about covering up so much – No lines will definitely look better, but you live and learn when you are this insecure!

At any rate, I did the rapid dry, so I went home and waiting the recommended two hours and then I jumped in the shower for a quick rinse (no soap) and then the next morning, I did a full shower, hair wash, etc. like I normally would.  Over all, my clothes were not discolored (even the clothes that I wore after the spray tan), and I used a white towel in the shower after the initial rinse and after the full shower and there was no discoloration left behind!  It was a great process.  I was not streaky, I was not orange, and I was not an abnormal color.  Most people who noticed just thought I had come back from a beach trip!  The tan lasted for a good 7 days and then I went back to looking like casper.

Below are pictures of my legs, which are the hardest part of my body to tan, before the tan and then right after.  They say that the best results show 24 hours later.  The photo of me in the dress and boots is from a party on Saturday night, which was about 30 hours after the initial tan.  Maybe you can chalk it up to my husband photographer playfully getting good angles or the Beach Body work outs I had been doing during quarantine, but I’d like to think that Uptown Charm had a great deal to do with making my legs look that good!  After this photo, which will be my dating profile pic if anything should happen between my husband and I, I’m a “lifer”.  Uptown Charm has my vote and I will be back – more than likely next week! (disclaimer - the background of the photo has been blurred to protect the innocent - and non-spray tanners)
